The President's decision "On additional measures for the development of the Uzbek sign language and the Braille alphabet" was adopted. According to the decision, one of the main directions of development of the Uzbek sign language and Braille is to implement complex measures to further develop the Uzbek sign language and increase its legal status, to use it as a means of communication. to promote the use. From January 1, 2023, special training courses on teaching Uzbek sign language and Braille will be organized in general secondary educational institutions and "Ishga Merhamat" monocenters. Persons with visual, hearing and speech impairments and parents of minor children of this category or their substitutes are trained in special training courses - free of charge, other persons - on a paid basis. From January 1, 2023, at least five percent of the weekly broadcast time on state TV channels will be shown with sign language, hidden subtitles or "running lines". Starting from the 2024/2025 academic year, pedagogues who know only the sign language in which classes are taught will be employed as teachers in specialized educational institutions for deaf and hard-of-hearing children. For the 2023/2024 academic year, the parameters of the state order for admission to higher education institutions will be increased by 25% based on the admission rates for deaf and hard-of-hearing education and speech and language education. Starting from 2023, the "Best Sign Language Interpreter" contest will be held every year in September, and the winners of the contest will be encouraged with cash prizes in the following order:
For 1st place - 100 times of BHM;
For the 2nd place - 65 times of BHM;
For 3rd place - 50 times of BHM.
