SDG. 6.4.2. Measuring the reuse of water

The used water is measured by meters. As a result of the measurement, it was determined that 141 thousand m3 of drinking water was consumed in 2021.

Average water consumption during daily bathing is 30 to 40 liters per person. In addition, when hot water is used, the first 5 to 10 liters are lost when it reaches the appropriate temperature.

This water can be collected in containers for reuse at home in various functions such as washing dishes or watering plants. In the same way, systems have been developed to collect all this water, such as special polyethylene bags hung from the shower faucet.

On the other hand, there are systems that are placed on the shower floor and can collect up to 90% of the water used. Later, it can be used in watering the garden or in the toilet.

Washing clothes by hand or in a washing machine uses a lot of water that ends up down the drain. Washing machines use up to nine liters per kilogram per wash.

A pipe can be installed connecting the washing machine drain to the storage tank to collect the wash water. The stored water can then be used for various purposes.

One of the ways it can be used is to wash the car or to clean the floors of the garage or patio. Similarly, water saved from washing can be used to flush the toilet.

On the other hand, if it contains only organic soap, it can be used for irrigation. In addition, this soapy water can be used to control pests in the garden, such as aphids that attack leaves.

If the correct schedule for cleaning the floors of the house is kept, the water with which the mop or mat is washed will be only slightly dirty. This water can be reused in the toilet and even for watering ornamental plants.

Air conditioners and dehumidifiers remove water from the environment, which in effect undergoes a distillation process. However, it cannot be used for human consumption because it lacks the necessary mineral elements.
